Pulikat is an Island, 550 Kms from Chennai , surrounded by sea on one side and back waters on all other sides. Access to the islands is only by boat and there is no connecting bridge. The entire island was severely affected by the recent Tsunami damaging the six Primary Schools. R.I. District 3230 has undertaken renovation of the schools under “SCHOOLS INTO SMILES” Project. Funded by General Electric (India & U.S.A)

Kadappakkam and its neighboring villages Alambarai Kuppam and Thandu Mariamman Kuppam form a cluster of three villages with a total of 650 families located 104 kms from Chennai and 4 kms off ECR road are being provided 3 community centres in each of these villages. Funded by National Solidarity Fund India.
