Adoption of Villages

Rotary is continuing to serve the tsunami hit areas by providing not only Fibreglass Boats, Nets, life jackets, refrigeration facilities, retrieving 53 trawlers at PALAYAR village but constructing schools, community centres and public health centres at the adopted 6 Tsunami hit villages of RI District 3230 viz. Kanathur Reddy Kuppam, Pulicat, Sulerikaatukuppam, Kadappakkam, Alambarai Kuppam and Thandumariamman Kuppam.

Kanathur Reddu Kuppam is a village located on the EC Road, about 26Kms from Chennai wherein there are 450 families earning their livelihood by Fishing. Dedicated a new school at a cost of 20 lakhs with 6 classrooms and separate toilets for boys and girls. Construction of a Community hall, a vocational centre and primary health centre are nearing completion. Construction of Compound Wall, Gym, Library, Water Tank, Diesel Tank station, Park and Security Quarters are in the pipeline.
