The Golden Touch

Sulerikattukuppam is a fishing hamlet on the East Coast Road with about 700 inmates in all. The Tsunami Relief committee of the Rotary Club of Madras under the chairmanship of Rtn PP N.K Gopinath has designed a Rehabilitation Project worth Rs.6 crores for this hamlet. Rs.2 crores has already been spent. The entire project inclusive of a 1600 sq. ft. community Hall, 1200 sq. ft. Refrigeration Plant, a 20 Bed Hospital cum Trauma care center and refurbishing of an existing school to a Higher Level is expected to be completed by April 2006.

Permanent Rehabilitation
145 Permanent Shelters (330 sq. ft. each) costing Rs. 2 lakhs each under construction. 60 houses are in the Lintel Stage.
Livelihood Rehabilitation
44 Fiber Glass Boats(29 1/2 long X 6 1/4 wide) replete with a 10HP Diesel Engine & 2 sets of nets costing Rs.1.75 lakhs each has been provided.
